Friday Events will all be held at the Newberry American Legion (7964 State Highway M123, Newberry, MI 49868)

- Please make sure you arrive in time so you can receive all necessary paperwork and your race bib, sign our sponsor banners, and have Vet Records checked BEFORE the driver’s meeting
- Friday 7:30PM Mandatory Driver’s Meeting
- Silent Auction will be open and available to bid!
Saturday, January 11
- SATURDAY RACES START — Saturday 9:00AM — Muskallonge Lake State Park OR Headquarters Lake State Forest Campground – TBD based on snow levels.
- The Junior Class will kick us off on Saturday morning at 9:00AM. Other classes to follow after conclusion of the Junior event. (Starting sheets with specific start times will be posted on the website no later than 1/9/25)
- MUSHERS: Parking lot will be open by 6AM. Early Parking is encouraged!! Vet Checks start at 7:30AM
- Concessions:
- Styes Guys UP BBQ will be present!
- Hot food, Hot chocolate, & Coffee!!
- Warming Fire
- Styes Guys UP BBQ will be present!
- Saturday Evening Dinner! — Newberry American Legion, doors open at 5:30.
- Price TBD, tickets available at door. All proceeds will be going to Newberry High School Athletes!! Please come out to meet & support the community that sponsors this race and ensures it’s longevity!
- While this event is not mandatory, we encourage you to come support our Newberry Community, as well as support your fellow mushers who will be receiving awards! Please be aware that if you choose not to attend, you will NOT be eligible to receive Saturday day money awards.

- Presentation by Dr. Jerry Vanek, DVM.
- Come listen to a world renowned sled dog veterinarian. A musher since his teens and a former sprint race competitor, he still drives dogs whenever he can. He is an honorary life member of both the North Star Sled Dog Club in Minnesota and the Northwest Sled Dog Association in Washington state; a recipient of both the Maeb Bayers’ Lifetime Achievement in Mushing award and the White Oak Classic Musher Tribute award; past President, Life Member, and charter Board Member of the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association, and a former Board Member and Treasurer of the American Canine Sports Medicine Association. Dr. Vanek has presented over 150 lectures and published over 80 articles on sled dogs and sports medicine to veterinarians, technicians, mushers, children, and the public around the globe, including invited presentations at the Harvard University Alumni Travellers Club in Boston, the Antarctican Society in Port Clyde, Maine, and the Norsk Army Military Dog Training School in Norway. He is the co-inventor of the Ultimate Wrist Wrap for sled dogs, still the most commonly-used carpal wrap in mushing, and he is certified in both canine physiotherapy (CCRT) and canine chiropractic (IVCA)
